SMSFs in 2022 – a year in review

2022 has been a landmark year for SMSFs with both Parliament and the Courts impacting major ticket items such as contribution rules and death benefit nominations.  Add to that the rollout of Director IDs, the continued rollout of Superstream (pun most definitely intended), the end of COVID relief for some but not all measures and uncertainty over measures previously announced but never enacted, the result is that 2022 has been a pretty crazy year.

This webinar will take a magnifying glass to all the matters that have impacted our industry in 2022, reflect on the good, bad and indifferent of each of the key matters as well as contemplate what 2023 and beyond might hold.  Amongst the key issues that will be discussed will be:

  • Downsizer contribution eligibility

  • Age pension  & CSHC changes

  • Work test restrictions for deductible contributions

  • Non-lapsing binding nominations

  • COVID and in-house assets

  • Minimum pension reductions

  • Residency issues in a holding pattern

  • Legacy pensions

  • Corporate trustee considerations

To round things out we will also highlight how the ongoing uncertainty around certain non-arm’s length expenses (NALE) should not divert our attention from the very real application of NALE rules as they exist

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this webinar, participants will have an appreciation for:
