Webinar – Insurance, Transfer Balance Caps & Div 296

SMSF Trustees are required as part of their investment strategy to consider holding insurance for fund members.  Insurance policies are a form of investment that many hopes will never be realised but when they are it’s important to know what impact they may have on fund members and/or their beneficiaries but also what impact they can have on a fund.

In this webinar, Tim Miller from Smarter SMSF will highlight the pros and cons of holding insurance inside an SMSF for members, for a member’s beneficiaries and for the fund itself.  The session will identify how insurance proceeds are treated when they hit a fund, the impact insurance has on the transfer balance cap and contemplate how insurance will interplay with the projected introduction of Division 296 tax.
