30 June checklist for SMSFs – planning around the unknown

All dates are unique but this 30 June 2021 is unique for so many reasons beyond the calendar reference!  This 30 June represents a transition from the known to the unknown, or more appropriately the uncertain.  This uncertainty is largely based on a number of Federal Budget announcements that make 2021/22 a potential holding pattern for SMSFs but also because we had great expectations for 2021 that were never completely delivered upon.

This webinar will look at the unique set of circumstances created by contribution cap and transfer balance cap indexation, the timing of changes to the bring-forward contributions rules, the late announcement of reduced minimum pensions as well as the impact the Federal Budget announcements have on strategic planning for SMSFs.  We will also consider the impact that the removal of other COVID-19 relief measures will have on funds in 2021/22 and beyond.  Being prepared for 30 June 2021 is one thing, being prepared for what lies beyond that date is another.

Learning Outcomes:

At the end of this webinar attendees will:

  • Contemplate whether Budget announcements can cloud better judgement
  • Be able to identify various contribution and pension strategies for consideration
  • Distinguish between bring-forward, carry-forward and deferred allocation with reference to contributions
  • Have the tools to communicate with their clients beyond 30 June
